Anytime is a good time to change up your hair. As women, we get a little tired of our hairstyles and sometimes, we’re ready for a change! Whether that’s a dramatic cut, a new color, or some highlights, picking a hairstyle that’s perfect for you isn’t easy — but it doesn’t have to be hard. Here’s a guide to choosing the perfect hair length based off your body type:
Full-Figured
Full-figured bodies are sexy and you deserve a sexy hairstyle! Add some volume to your locks and keep the cut around shoulder-length, that’ll be the most flattering for your body type. You’ll want to avoid going shorter and styling your hair too straight, that could add unnecessary weight to your face. A loose, soft wave won’t expose your neck and will help your rounder face appear more oval. Not to mention, shoulder-length hair is very versatile. You can pull it up in a bun, leave it down, or even style half up half down!
Large Nose
Is your nose a little bit bigger than the average nose? You can easily disguise this characteristic with a layered, shoulder-length style. Maybe even add a pop of color in order to make sure people are looking at your hair, instead of your nose. You don’t have to go too crazy with the color though. I’m not saying you should dye your hair a bright blue unless that’s your style. Do whatever you think fits you!
Tall & Lean
It’s a bit easier to pick a hairstyle that works when you’re tall and lean, but there are a few big no-nos. If you have this body type you’re going to want to avoid too much volume because that could make you look a little old school. Instead, stick to styles that are chic, straight, and short. A pixie cut, for example. Or maybe a bob. A style that’s short and edgy is going to be your best bet!
Average
There’s nothing wrong with having an average body shape — that’s why so many people fall into this category, it’s so popular. If you’re around 5’3- to 5’6, you should think about a “Lob.” What’s a “Lob?” A long bob. This hairstyle is perfect for the average girl because, depending on your personality, you can style it any way you please. A Lob looks great with a middle part, a side part, a bang, curled, straightened, wavy, etc. You can’t go wrong.
Broad Shoulders
Broad shoulders are incredibly common! A lot of women in Hollywood rock their broad shoulders with short, long, and even medium-length hair. And you know what? It looks great on them. Any length looks good with broad shoulders as long as the style is soft. A beach wave will perfectly balance your broad shoulder equation while helping you look chic and on trend.
Large Forehead
You shouldn’t be embarrassed about your forehead. Some of the most beautiful people in the world have large foreheads — Naomi Campbell, for example! Why wouldn’t you want to look like her?! Whatever, it’s fine if you still want to hide the size of your forehead. Consider experimenting with bangs; front bangs, side swept bangs, etc. But be cautious. Front bangs are a huge commitment because if you don’t like them, there’s nothing you can really do about it. Side swept bangs, on the other hand, can be easily hidden.
Strong & Athletic
Is your strong athletic build due to your obsession with the gym? You might not be a fan of what I’m about to say but….chop it off! A cute pixie cut would look absolutely great on you, thanks to your amazing bone structure. Plus, you won’t have to worry about long, straggly hair getting in the way of your workouts. The shorter the better!
Curvy
Do you have a few assets that you don’t want people constantly staring at? I completely understand. Don’t be afraid to add some length to your hair and a few loose curls. Sometimes, when our bodies are curvier some places than they are others it can leave things looking a little unbalanced. Making sure your hair has volume is key to making your body looks even and AMAZING.
Incredibly Petite
Being petite is both a blessing and a curse. That’s because it’s not always easy to find clothes and hairstyles that are actually a good fit! You don’t want your hair to wear you, right? The same way as you don’t want your clothes to wear you either. A solid idea for petite ladies is hair that’s layered. That’ll make the style look more natural, and not so constructed.
Large Ears
Similar to a large forehead, having large ears makes you unique and it adds an edge to your look. If you’re ready to embrace your ears cut your hair shorter, while keeping it layered, and pull your hair behind your ears so everyone can see those ears for what they are — beautiful! However, if you’re not quite ready to accentuate your ears, consider shoulder-length hair and a middle part that’ll allow your hair to flawlessly fall down your ears.
